GEMS is a set of twelve miniatures that explore theatrical elements of the contemporary musical stage performance practice. Each miniature, a different “gem” in its own regard, delves into the more uncomfortable, comical, and puzzling aspects of being on stage (and, as a corollary, being an audience member).
These miniatures may be performed all together, as one set of actions (in which case movement titles are not encouraged for programming), or they may be used to bookend other repertoire for a performance.
